Dealing with sadness and choosing happiness

In a world filled with distractions, and various sources of pain, it is totally up to us to find or create moments of happiness.

My message in this piece is simple:

Trying your best to be happy is a healthy thing to do. It’s not pretense. It’s okay.

Making an effort to be happy is a good thing: It’s better than giving up yourself completely to waves of sadness.

Life can be tough sometimes. So much so that the only positive option you have is trying to make yourself happy (whatever that means for you).

Making yourself happy is a form of self-care. Maybe it's a warm bath, a walk in nature, taking a nap, seeing an entertaining movie, or simply having a good laugh with friends. Whatever it is that makes you feel good, that's your go-to move.

It’s okay even if it feels like you’re pretending to be happy; it’s way better than letting sadness take over, leading to depression.

Because if we keep dwelling on what is out there to steal our joy, the truth is, we might stay sad forever.

Choosing happiness is like telling life,

I won't remain sad; I won’t let sadness win.

And remember, making yourself happy doesn't mean ignoring the tough stuff. It's more about giving yourself a boost of positive energy every time you need it, so you can face challenges with a bit more strength and a brighter outlook.

I understand that some situations are tough, beyond your control, extremely overwhelming, making you feel helpless.

So be on the lookout for those little moments when you feel empowered to make a choice.

It could be after watching a motivational video, praying, talking to a supportive friend or speaking with your therapist.

In those little moments, choose happiness.

It may seem little but trust me—they add up.

Do positive things that make you feel better and restore some sense of peace.

Tough times don't last forever.

The bottom line is, even if it seems like you’re pretending—it’s okay to feel that way. That doesn’t mean choosing to be happy is a bad thing.

You’re simply doing the best you can.

And sometimes, that’s all that matters.❤️

Don’t give up on yourself.

Sending more strength, healing, and positivity your way.❤️
